And yet... people came out. Young children, slightly older folks, some teenagers, a few track and cross country stars, a few struggling walkers, one incredible Nigerienne woman, a couple pairs of weekend hikers, an Iraqi-war veteran, a former host mom. They ran or walked Ks to show their support of Expanding Lives' girls and made us all feel like we are part of a larger community of people who care and who know that by supporting each other WE make a difference.
I am embarrassed to say that E.L. threw together a junior board despite not knowing what a junior board was. We just knew we wanted these people to stay involved with us. Our junior board proved to us that they could pull off a major event with style.
Kudos to Akshita, Charlotte, Josephine, Julia for working hard and succeeding. Look out 2012!
